We never invent a value to fill a gap. See [Missing and empty profile fields](/docs/guides/missing-and-empty-fields) to distinguish an unknown value from a real zero or an uncollected field.

- **Emails and phones are billed only when found.** A "no email found" or "no phone found" answer costs nothing.
- **People publish different amounts of themselves.** A detailed profile returns a rich result; a sparse one does not. Coverage varies person to person, and that is data, not an error.
- **Rows skipped by enrichment are reported.** A row with no usable input (no LinkedIn URL, email or name) is counted as skipped in the quote, so you know what you are paying for before you pay.
- **A pending signal is not a member yet.** Imported rows show up as pending until they are resolved; their fields fill in when resolution runs.

## How do credits work?

- **Lookups cost credits; everything else is free.** Searching, enriching, fetching profiles, finding emails and phones are billed. Creating, renaming, organizing, filtering and exporting Lists, checking whether a profile exists, and exporting an Ask conversation are free.
- **You always see the price before paying.** Quote cards in Lists and Ask approval cards show the worst case up front; a profile we already had cached bills less than a fresh one.
- **The actual cost is what leaves your balance.** After each answer, the top-bar counter updates with what was really billed. The worst case is a ceiling, not the price.
- **You control the pace.** In Ask, the **Ask before spending** mode makes every paid lookup wait for your go-ahead; big batches always show a quote first. In Lists, nothing runs until you confirm the quote.
- **Not enough credits?** The run stops with a clear credits message, and you can top up from billing without losing what the List already holds.

## What about privacy?

- **The data is professional and public.** Profiles, companies, roles and verified work emails come from public professional sources: the information people publish about their working lives.
- **A phone number can be personal.** Numbers we find can be company lines, mobiles or personal numbers; there is no strictly-professional filter. Check what you are dialling.
- **Work emails resolve people, personal mailboxes rarely do.** Asking who is behind a company email address works well; a Gmail-style address is the least resolutive input.
- **Your Lists are yours.** They live in your workspace and are the durable home of the results you paid for; nothing is added to them without an operation you can see in History.

## Common errors

- **"Not enough credits":** top up from billing; your data and Lists are untouched.
- **A lookup failed on our side:** Ask says so plainly, does not dress a failure as an empty result, and you are not billed for a failed lookup presented as data.
- **A file was refused:** attachments accept PDF, TXT, MD and CSV up to 25 MiB. Scanned PDF pages are read on demand through OCR, with the reading cost admitted within your monthly AI usage allowance; a file is refused with an explicit message when it is not a supported format, and photo or screenshot analysis is not available.
- **A quote expired:** Lists quotes are valid ten minutes because they freeze a scope; run the quote again, it takes the List's current state into account.
- **Ask refuses to start a turn:** each workspace has a monthly AI usage allowance; when it is used up, Ask says so and starts again with the next monthly window.

Still stuck?
